14:30 The future role of data: a tricky policy landscape

This will address problems posed to the data economy and processes that will support the use of big data in particular the GDPR’s incompatibility with almost any big data strategy, the future impact of equality legislation on the use of big data (I will use insurance as an example for both of these) and, finally, the emerging threat (in Europe) of economic regulation of data whereby data is seen as an economic good the possession of which confers potential market dominance on companies. I will talk, in particular, about the German Cartel Office’s investigation of Facebook.
